Just scanning his bio makes me think we could probably learn a lot from this man.

Tommy Spaulding is president of a national leadership development, consulting, coaching and speaking organization that bears his last name. and became the youngest president and CEO of the leadership organization, Up With People, from 2005 to 2008.

He founded something called Leader's Challenge, focusing on high school students in Colorado, and has been instrumental in other leadership development programs.

This week, Spaulding's latest book was published by Crown Business: "The Heart-Led Leader; How Living and Leading from the Heart Will Change Your Organization and Your Life."

The book talks about qualities such as humility and empathy that will help transform leaders in their careers and lives. But they have to be willing to make the "18-inch journey" from acting just with their head, and paying more attention to their heart as they interact with and guide others.

Goodread.com had a rating of 4.5 on the book just a day after its Tuesday release, based on six ratings and three reviews. Dozens of others had marked the book as one "to read" and several had already started.

Spaulding's first book, "It's Not Just Who You Know," made it to the New York Times best-seller list.
