Former Mad Ants to NBA, new G-League team

JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette

Julyan Stone proved last season that he’s still got NBA game, starring for the Mad Ants before abruptly leaving them during the season to play in Turkey. He was rewarded Wednesday with an NBA contract with the Charlotte Hornets.

He wasn’t the only former Mad Ants player in the news. In the Gatorade League’s expansion draft, the Memphis Hustle got the rights to Marquis Teague, who was basically the player to replace Stone with the Mad Ants, and Omari Johnson.

I didn’t envision any of those guys playing this season for the Mad Ants, who are expected to have Alex Poythress, Edmond Sumner and Ben Moore on assignment from the Indiana Pacers.
