Wilkins leads Swarm past Ants

JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette

DeQuan Jones had 29 points and Walt Lemon Jr. added 24, but it wasn’t enough for the Mad Ants to avoid a 118-102 loss to the Greensboro Swarm tonight in front of 1,063 fans at The Fieldhouse.

Damien Wilkins, who earlier this season played for the NBA’s Indiana Pacers, had 20 points to lead the Swarm. The Pacers own and operate the Mad Ants (20-15), who had won four of their previous five games.

The Swarm (11-22) had three players – Mangok Mathiang, Terry Henderson and Marcus Paige – score 18 points. Greensboro’s 38-29 third-quarter run gave it a 91-75 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Jarrod Uthoff had 12 points and seven rebounds for the Mad Ants. Trey McKinnney Jones and Edmond Sumner had 10 points apiece.

The Mad Ants play at the Maine Red Claws at 7 p.m. Saturday.
