The Mad Ants lost the first of their eight-game road trip and their grip on first place in the Central Division, too.

Despite 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting by rookie Jordan Loyd, the Mad Ants lost 111-103 today to the Atlantic Division-leading Maine Red Claws in front of 2,342 fans in Portland, Maine.

Marcus Georges-Hunt scored 30 points, including 11-of-11 shooting from the free-throw line, and Demetrius Jackson, a rookie out of Notre Dame, added 26 points for the Red Claws (15-7).

Jalen Jones had 25 points and 10 rebounds for Maine, which was down 30-27 before taking command with a 52-34 run that began at the outset of the second quarter at the Portland Expo Building.

The Mad Ants (13-7) got 19 points from Stephan Hicks, who converted 5 of 7 shots from 3-point range, and Trey McKinney Jones had 18 points as Fort Wayne fell to a half game back of division-leading Raptors 905 (14-7).

Rookie Alex Poythress contributed 14 points for Fort Wayne. Travis Leslie, who returned after a one-game absence with a hamstring injury, had 13 points and six rebounds.

The Mad Ants, who have lost four of their last six games, fell to 1-2 this season against Maine. The Mad Ants play 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Long Island, New York, against the Nets (8-15).
