Mad Ants must go for jugular
Justin A. Cohn | The Journal Gazette
A four-game losing streak may not sound that bad, but considering it's the longest of their season, the Mad Ants would certainly like to snap it tonight against Rio Grande Valley.
The biggest problem with the Mad Ants continues to be their inability to hang on to leads and to play with a killer instinct. In a strange way I think their depth is sometimes a problem; they don't have that one player who takes over when they absolutely need to get baskets.
Sometimes I'd like to see them run the offense through one guy instead of spreading the ball around, to go for the jugular. But I'm not sure who the player is who can do that for them.
Alex Poythress, who has been recovering from a finger injury, is the best candidate. Travis Leslie, who has been trying to reclaim his early season form, is another. However they do it, though, the Mad Ants have to start getting back to winning because they no longer look like a sure playoff team.
