Mad Ants select: Lemon

We’re in the third round of the D-League draft and the Mad Ants have one new player: Walt Lemon Jr., taken with the last pick of the second round.
The first pick of the draft, made by Idaho, was former Indiana Pacers player Jeff Ayres, 28, who spent last season with the San Antonio Spurs and played in 51 games averaging 2.7 points.
Westchester used the second pick on Jimmer Fredette, the former BYU star, who last season was with New Orleans of the NBA.
The Mad Ants didn’t have a first-round pick because of the trade last season with Rio Grande Valley to acquire Gary Talton. They also lack a third-round pick, and added a sixth-round pick, because of the trade last season with Los Angeles for Travis Hyman.
Coming into the day, the Mad Ants had seven players on their roster – C.J. Fair, Xavier Thames, Kadeem Jack, Terran Petteway, Marcus Simmons, Ramon Harris and Greg Foster. They open training camp Tuesday.
Lemon, 6-foot-3, played at Bradley from 2010 to 2014 – he averaged 18 points and 3 rebounds as a senior – and he spent last season playing in Hungary and Germany.
