Readying for Ants vs. Spurs
JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette
The Mad Ants are readying for their game against the Austin Spurs at Memorial Coliseum.
Orlando Johnson, former Fort Wayne player, is with the Spurs. As it was Saturday when the Mad Ants beat Delaware 116-109 at the Coliseum, this is a big game for the playoff positioning as Fort Wayne has a hold on the fourth playoff spot in the conference but can still catch Canton for No. 3.
I really like the blue-collar mentality the Mad Ants have had lately, which has really coincided with the addition of Tyler Hansbrough, but something that stood out Saturday was the ability of Fort Wayne to answer every big shot by the opposition with a shot of its own.
Despite having seven rookies, the players continue to play beyond their years. No one seems to have a great explanation as to how that happens.
Is it because most played at big-time colleges?
Are they just mature?
All of the above?
Fort Wayne is 26-18. Austin is 20-23.
