Rookie leads Ants to road win
Rookie Alex Poythress had 35 points -- increasing his team-leading scoring average to 18.7 points this season -- and the Mad Ants defeated the Westchester Knicks 119-111 on Thursday night in New York.
Poythress made 12 of 26 shots and had 12 rebounds and three shot blocks.
Teammate Trey McKinney Jones totaled 28 points, hitting 17 of 17 at the free-throw line, for the Mad Ants (15-7), who are 2-1 on their eight-game road trip.
Poythress had a team-best 28 points in the 120-112 victory Tuesday over the Long Island Nets.
Stephan Hicks had 20 points, rookie Jordan Loyd 12 and rookie Adam Woodbury 11 points and nine rebounds in 22 minutes of play Thursday.
Keith Wright led Westchester (11-11) with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
The Mad Ants trailed 64-55 at halftime but opened the second half with a 25-20 run to flip the momentum.
Julyan Stone had eight points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds for the Mad Ants, who made 40 of 49 free throws, while Westchester made 17 of 24.
The Mad Ants face the Windy City Bulls on Jan. 19 at 12:30 p.m. at the D-League Showcase in Mississauga, Ontario.
