IPFW men's basketball wins over Delaware State

The IPFW men's basketball team overcame a slow start to win its opener of the Adolph Rupp Classic with a 85-71 victory over Delaware State in front of 1,353 fans at the Memorial Coliseum on Wednesday.
The Mastodons (2-1) trailed 12-7 with 13:55 left in the first but a 13-2 run gave them a 20-14 lead.
The Hornets (1-2) would lead twice more in the first half at 24-23 with 7:19 left and 29-28 with 2:40 left but the Mastodons closed the half on a 7-0 run to go into the half up 35-29.
The team shot 47.2 percent from the field in the second half, up from 35.5 in the first.
Kason Harrell scored 17 of his team-leading 20 points in the second half, finishing the game with 7 of 15 shooting from the field and 6 of 11 from 3.
Bryson Scott scored 17 including 10 of 11 free throws and John Konchar recorded his 31st career double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Kobe Gantz led all scorers with 23 points for the Hornets, Pinky Wiley added 17 and Jonathan Mitchell 16.
The Mastodons travel to Illinois-Chicago on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
