Saint Francis men lose to Marian


Saint Francis fell 83-74 to Marian in Indianapolis on Tuesday.

The Knights (16-7, 6-5 Crossroads League) led 53-37 at halftime and the Cougars (19-4, 9-2) couldn't make up the deficit.

The game was tied at 12 with 15:46 left in the first half but Marian went on a 28-8 run to go up 40-20 with 5:48 left.

USF held the Knights to 9 of 25 from the field in the second half but never got closer than five at 60-55 with 14:12 left in the game.


No. 1 VILLANOVA 89, PROVIDENCE 69: In Philadelphia, with the city swept up in a Super Bowl frenzy, the Wildcats showed again why city sports fans can also brag about having the top team in college basketball. Just across the street from where the Eagles clinched a Super Bowl berth, the Wildcats (19-1, 6-1 Big East) used a 22-2 run in the first half to cruise to their sixth straight win.

No. 12 OKLAHOMA 85, No. 5 KANSAS 80: In Norman, Okla., freshman point guard Trae Young had 26 points and nine assists as the Sooners rallied.

Christian James scored 15 points and Brady Manek added 14 for the Sooners (15-4, 5-3 Big 12), who won their 13th straight at home. Svi Mykhailiuk scored 24 points and Malik Newman added 20 for Kansas (16-4, 6-2)


KENT STATE 88, BALL STATE 80, OT: In Kent, Ohio, Kevin Zabo scored seven of his 21 points in overtime and Danny Pippen finished with a double-double to power the Golden Flashes. 

Pippen scored 11 with 16 rebounds for the Golden Flashes (10-10, 4-3 Mid-American Conference), who beat the Cardinals for a 15th straight time. 


Tayler Persons tallied 19 points and seven assists to pace Ball State  (12-8, 3-4). Sean Sellers added 15 points and nine rebounds.

GRACE 89, MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE 73: In Winona Lake, Charlie Warner scored 17, Haden Deaton added 16, Logan Godfrey 15 and Matt Jennings 14 for the Lancers.

Javon Knox scored 25 to lead the Cougars. 

HUNTINGTON 95, BETHEL 90: In Mishawaka, Mike Bush went 10 of 15 from the field and 10 of 14 from the free-throw line to lead the Foresters (8-14, 4-6 Crossroads League) with 32 points. Konner Platt added 19 points and Kyle Platt scored 13. 

Gage Ott shot 14 of 19 from the field to lead the Pilots (17-5, 6-4) with 36 points, Tanner Shepherd scored 12 and Luke Fisher 10. 


No. 16 MICHIGAN 74, MICHIGAN STATE 48: In Ann Arbor, Katelynn Flaherty had 26 points with four 3-pointers and six assists as the Wolverines snapped a four-game skid in the series.

Nicole Munger added 13 points and Hallie Thome grabbed 11 rebounds for Michigan (18-4, 7-2). Sidney Cooks scored 17 points for Michigan State (14-7, 4-4).
