Tech hockey coaches on leave, players say

Indiana Tech hockey coaches accused of bullying and striking players were placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation, three players said.
The college is investigating claims coach Frank DiCristofaro Jr. and his father, assistant coach Frank DiCristofaro Sr., verbally and physically abused players.
Three players – Joe Molfetta, Chet Tooker and Dominick Manochio – said team members spoke by phone and in person with Human Resources Director Julie Hendryx, who told them the coaches had been placed on leave and were not to contact players.
Brian Engelhart, an Indiana Tech spokesman, said Friday he could not confirm the meeting. He said the investigation is ongoing, and the college is working to gather information.
Molfetta was dismissed from the team at the end of the 2017-18 season. He said the coaches were verbally abusive and that DiCristofaro Sr. punched him "occasionally."
Other players said they witnessed the alleged abuse.
