Indiana Tech men's and women's track coach Doug Edgar was named the Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year for both squads, the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Monday.
It's the third consecutive season Edgar has earned regional honors from the association, sweeping indoor and outdoor awards all three years.
The Warriors swept the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship team titles earlier this month with the men's sixth straight title and the women winning their sixth overall title.
The team begins competition at the NAIA National Championships on Thursday in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Purdue keys football transfer
Former Western Kentucky offensive lineman Dennis Edwards announced on Twitter he plans to transfer to Purdue for his final season of college football. Edwards played for Purdue coach Jeff Brohm in the lineman's first three years at Western Kentucky.
The 6-foot-1, 305-pound lineman started 39 games over the last three seasons. As a graduate transfer, he'll be immediately eligible to play and will be in the mix at center and guard.
Brey to coach U18
Notre Dame men's basketball coach Mike Brey will serve as a court coach for the USA Basketball Men's U18 training camp, USA Basketball announced Monday.
The camp will be from May 31-June 2 in Colorado Springs, Colorado after which finalists for the national team will be announced from a pool of 33 players at the camp.
Tech soccer signs six
Indiana Tech men's soccer announced the signing of six players: Quentin Black (Toledo), Andrew Cauldwell (Avon), Mohamed Ibrahima Moudi (Warren Central), Kyaw Oo (Snider), Michael Soto (Northrop) and Ethan Stomm (DeKalb).
IPFW gets golf transfer
Former state champion Holly Anderson will play for IPFW starting in 2018-19. The Columbus North graduate won the state championship in 2016 and spent her freshman year at Ball State. She competed seven times for the Cardinals with an average of 80.6 in 19 rounds. She will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Mastodons.

Indiana Tech wrestler Mitch Roadruck was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team for District 2. ... Tech junior tennis player Rui Lima, women's lacrosse team's Dakota Dawson, Monica Sarka, Kristina Scott, Sam Vikstrom, Jennifer Banks, Sabrina Foest and Heidi Tremaine and men's lacrosse team's Taylor Marchan were named NAIA-Daktronics Scholar Athletes. ... IPFW pitcher Brandon Phelps garnered Summit League pitcher of the week honors. He threw a complete game in the Mastodons' series-opening win over Oral Roberts, giving up two runs on nine hits, striking out seven.
