ELIZABETH WYMAN | The Journal Gazette

In the first tournament of the season for Indiana Tech men's and women golf, both teams started the season off with a bang. The men finished in third place with a 36-hole score of 580, the second-lowest mark in program history. Junior Nick Kocks led the Warriors after he shot 8-under par, shooting a 136. He set a 36-hole program record. Kocks' first round score of 67 is tied for second-best in team history. His performance earned him Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week honors.

The women took home second behind a strong showing from junior Cecilia Heck. Finishing with medalist honors, Heck went 3-over par, shooting 147 on the 36 holes. It was her second career medalist finish. The The Sheinberg, Germany native received Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week in result of her strong showing. It was the second time in her career she received the honor.

The women return to action Tuesday for the second day of the Lindsey Wilson Fall Invite. The men resume play Saturday in the Dr. Richard Park Invite.
