Derek Romer, a former tennis player at Indiana Tech, has rejoined the program as an assistant for the men's and women's teams head coach Brock Orlowski announced Wednesday.
The Kendallville native went 6-6 as a singles player during his collegiate career and 16-13 as a doubles player. He has served as a tennis pro at Empowered Sports Club in Fort Wayne, focusing on racquet services and 10-and-under instruction, according to the club's website.
The release announcing his hiring stated that Romer will plan and organize practices, offer in-match coaching and on-court hitting in addition to racquet-stringing and mentorship of players.
