USF men's basketball sets schedule
The Saint Francis men’s basketball team will open its 55th season by playing host to Aquinas College on Oct. 27 at Hutzell Athletic Center.
The 2018-19 USF schedule includes games against eight teams ranked in the final 2018 NAIA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 including No. 1 IU-East and NAIA champion and No. 4 Indiana Wesleyan University. Eight of USF’s first 14 games are against teams ranked in the NAIA Top 25 at the end of the 2017-18 regular season.
USF opens play against ranked opponents on Nov. 2 in the Cornerstone University Classic against Fort Wayne cross-town rival and No. 6 Indiana Tech in Grand Rapids, Michigan. USF plays No. 2 Cornerstone University on Nov. 3 after splitting a pair of meetings against the Golden Eagles in 2017-18.
The Cougars will play No. 1 and NAIA championship semifinalist IU-East on Nov. 16 on the first day of the Northern Lakes Classic at Hutzell Athletic Center.
USF coach Chad LaCross enters his ninth season with a 202-80 record after USF advanced to its seventh NAIA Championship level in eight seasons under LaCross. USF finished with a 29-9 record in 2017-18 and a No. 7 Top 25 ranking in the final coaches’ poll.
Starters returning for LaCross include Chandler White (G/F Sr., 6-3, Carroll), Connor Lautzenheiser (G Jr., 6-2 Convoy Crestview) and key reserves Austin Compton (G Jr. 6-0 Elwood/Frankton), Hunter Hollowell (G 6-5 So. Huntington North) and Devon Tennant (F Jr. 6-7 Snider).
