IPFW men's volleyball loses at Harvard

The IPFW men's volleyball team lost 3-1 to Harvard (28-26, 25-17, 23-25, 25-19) Thursday at the Malkin Athletic Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

In the first set, Mastodons freshman Richie Diedrich ended the set with six kills and a .714 hitting percentage. Fellow freshman Pelegrin Vargas added five kills. IPFW hit .333 in the opening set of the night, but could not overcome a Crimson squad hitting .438.

Harvard (1-2) continued its strong hitting in the second set, reaching a .417 clip, with only one error. In the third set, the Mastodons (0-7) outhit the Crimson .378 to .207, while having 18 kills to Harvard's 11.

Vargas finished with a career-high 17 kills, Colton Stone added 13 kills and eight digs. Michael Keegan recorded his first double-double of the season and third of his career with 46 assists and 10 digs. Keegan's 46 assists and 10 digs were both season-highs. Jack Carlson chipped in eight digs.

Fort Wayne falls to 0-7 while Harvard picks up its first win of the season to move to 1-2.

The Mastodons play at 7 p.m. today in Fairfield, Connecticut against Sacred Heart.
