Report on Huntington freshman come back 'negative' for cancer

JOURNAL GAZETTE

Huntington University freshman volleyball player Paige Eakright got some good news, some really good news, Monday from her doctors.

"We are extremely excited to celebrate with friends and all those who have been supporting Paige on this journey, through prayers and other means, that her latest pathology report came back 100 percent negative," Craig Eakright, Paige's father, wrote in a text message. "Treatments have been very successful."

Eakright, a Homestead graduate, found out she had uterine cancer Aug. 26, the day she was to move into Huntington University. She has been going through chemotherapy and had surgeries since the diagnosis.

Paige's mother, Jill, is the diving coach at Homestead.
