Freshman guard Vijay Blackmon has left the Saint Francis men's basketball program, coach Chad LaCross confirmed Thursday.
"He is no longer part of our program and I wish Vijay the best in the future," LaCross wrote in a text message.
LaCross said Blackmon did not cite any specific reasons for his departure.
Blackmon was fifth on the team with 9.2 points per game, to go along with 2 rebounds and 1.1 assists. He has played in 22 of 23 games this year and started one game. In Saint Francis' 75-52 win over Marian on Tuesday, Blackmon was scoreless in two minutes of playing time. He didn't play in the Cougars' 96-84 loss at Bethel last Saturday.
Saint Francis, which has lost four of its last five games, is 16-7 and 6-5 in the Crossroads League.
Blackmon is the son of Marion boys basketball coach and former Bishop Luers coach James Blackmon Sr. and brother of current Indiana University standout James Blackmon Jr. A Marion graduate, Vijay Blackmon played one season at Bishop Luers before transferring and leading the Giants to the 2016 Class 3A state championship.
