Banks touring state defense sites

Journal Gazette

Freshman U.S. Rep. Jim Banks announced Wednesday he is touring Indiana military installations, a defense contractor and a related state agency this week.

“Joined together, these assets uniquely position Indiana to play a leading role in our country’s national defense. I hope to learn more this week about how I can support our Hoosier defense industry in my role on the House Armed Services Committee,” Banks, R-3rd, said in a statement.

His tour runs from Wednesday through Friday and includes stops at Grissom Air Reserve Base near Peru; aircraft engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce Corp., the Indiana National Guard headquarters and the Indiana Office of Defense Development, all in Indianapolis; the Guard's Camp Atterbury near Edinburgh and its Muscatatuck Urban Training Center near North Vernon; and Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane Division near Bedford.
