U.S. Rep. Luke Messer, who seeks the Republican nomination for a U.S. Senate seat from Indiana, will campaign Saturday in northeast Indiana.

Messer will have public meet-and-greet events from 8 to 8:45 a.m. at Wells County Republican Party Headquarters, 125 S. Johnson St., Bluffton; 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. at Nick's Kitchen, 506 N. Jefferson St., Huntington; 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at Brew'ha Coffee House, 120 N. Main St., Columbia City; and 12:15 to 1 p.m. at St. James Restaurant, 2014 E. Albion St., Avilla. 

Messer is among three Republicans who have filed to run for the nomination to challenge Democratic Sen. Joe Donnelly in the November general election. Also filing were U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita and former state lawmaker Mike Braun.

Three other Republicans have announced their candidacies. The filing deadline for Senate candidates in the May 8 primary election is noon Friday.
