Two Republican state lawmakers will participate in an organized protest against Planned Parenthood in Fort Wayne.
The protest will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday and is part of the third annual nationwide protest of Planned Parenthood by a coalition of groups that oppose abortion rights.
Allen County Right to Life said Thursday that Sen. Travis Holdman, R-Markle, and Rep. Ben Smaltz, R-Auburn, will be among speakers at the rally along the right-of-way near the Parkwest Shopping Center on West Jefferson Boulevard, where Planned Parenthood has its local clinic. The Fort Wayne Planned Parenthood does not provide abortion services.
Holdman is being challenged in the May 8 GOP primary election by Adams County Councilman Eric Orr, and Smaltz is being challenged by political novice William Carlin of Garrett. Indiana Right to Life has endorsed Holdman and Smaltz, and the anti-abortion group Hoosiers for Life has endorsed Orr and Carlin.
