Braun to make campaign stop in Fort Wayne

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Braun will campaign in Fort Wayne as part of what he is calling his "Solutions Tour."

Braun, who is challenging Sen. Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., in the Nov. 6 general election, is scheduled to have a media availability at Master Spas on Lincoln Parkway on Wednesday afternoon.

Master Spas manufacturers and sells spas and hot tubs. Then-U.S. Rep. Todd Young appeared there in 2016 after winning the Republican nomination for Indiana's other Senate seat, which he would be elected to later that year.

Braun said Tuesday in a statement that he will be "talking to Hoosiers about the solutions I’ve learned in building my business here in my hometown, and how I’m going to take that experience to work for you in Washington.” Braun is president and chief executive officer of Jasper-based Meyer Distributing, an auto parts distribution company.

Braun, a former state lawmaker, also was scheduled to appear this week at manufacturing companies in Brownsburg and Vigo County.

The business advocacy group NFIB announced Tuesday that it has endorsed Braun's candidacy. NFIB Indiana State Director Barbara Underwood said in a statement, “We know that Braun will be a champion for Indiana small businesses and will work hard to eliminate burdensome regulations and protect small business tax cuts."
