Tritch to moderate discussion; Banks to speak at Trine

The campaign for Democratic congressional candidate Courtney Tritch announced Tuesday that she will moderate a panel discussion Wednesday in Fort Wayne on issues affecting military veterans.

The discussion is sponsored by American Legion Post 148 and will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the post, 705 E. Lewis St. Panelists will include a Gold Star spouse and representatives from workforce development, local government and a non-profit agency for veterans.

Tritch, a Fort Wayne marketing consultant, is challenging Rep. Jim Banks, R-3rd, in the Nov. 6 general election.

Trine University announced Tuesday that Banks will open the Angola school's 2018-2019 Distinguished Speaker Series, which is free and open to the public.

He will speak at 9 a.m. Sept. 11 in the Ryan Concert Hall of the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts. The event will include a remembrance of the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

Banks, of Columbia City, is a member of the House Armed Services, Veterans' Affairs, and Education and Workforce committees and an officer in the Navy Reserve.
