DeKalb senior closing in 100 career goals


DeKalb senior Faith Lewis is getting closer to her career century mark with three goals in the Barons' 4-2 win over Concordia and two more in a 4-0 win over Canterbury in girls soccer Saturday.

Lewis' career mark stands at 98 goals.

Both games were part of the Shindigz Soccer Festival.

Against the Cadets, Grace Snyder scored the other goal and Madysen Snyder and Brook Bowers each scored once against the Cavaliers.

Alyssa Wells had two assists while Katie Smith and Kendyl Smith each had one against Canterbury.

Boys soccer

WADSWORTH (OHIO) 3, CARROLL 1: Will Mann scored the lone goal for the Chargers and goalkeeper Colin Coplen had five saves.

Kai Wagner scored twice for Wadsworth and Andrew Robinson added the other.

Boys tennis

CARROLL 5, PLYMOUTH 0: At Plymouth, Ethan Radke won 6-0, 6-1 against Tommy Holloway at No. 1 singles and Grant Newman and Stephen Verhoff won 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles over Clay Hilliard and Adam Hunter.

CARROLL 3, MUNSTER 2: At Plymouth, Radke defeated Joe Webster 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Luke Stoffel won 6-0, 6-1 over Peyton Specht at No. 2 singles and Kyle Hoerr won 6-0, 6-3 against Jack Gauderman. The Chargers fell at both doubles positions.

FREMONT INVITATIONAL: Wabash won the team title with 41 points with wins at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles. Snider and Fremont tied for second at 29 points and Lakeland was fourth with 21.

The Panthers got first place finishes from No. 2 doubles while the Eagles' No. 1 singles won. Lakeland's No. 3 singles finished first.

WAYNE-SOUTH SIDE INVITATIONAL: At Kreager Park, Drew Hall won 6-0, 6-0 over Lwyn Aung at No. 1 singles and Zach Kaufman and Matt Winteregg won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles over Sam Laird and Noah Hunley against Wayne.

Bishop Luers won 4-1 over Blackhawk Christian with both doubles teams winning: Charlie Burton and Garrett Scheiber, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 and Noah Brown and Jack Nolan won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2.

Wayne swept Churubusco with Aung winning 6-0, 6-2 over Noah Grim at No. 1 singles and Hunley and Laird winning 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles over Mason Goniwitha and Andrew Boggess.

Bishop Luers beat Churubusco 5-0 with Cole Scheible winning 6-1, 6-0 over Noah Grim and Charlie Burton and Garrett Scheiber winning 6-1, 6-0 over Boggess and Gonwitha.
