Homestead falls at state tennis

CARMEL – Park Tudor junior Aidan Harris knocked off Homestead’s David Heiney in three sets at No. 1 singles to secure the winning point Friday’s state quarterfinals match.

The No. 5 Panthers tennis team topped No. 4 Homestead 3-2 at Carmel High School. Harris won 6-1, 6-7 (7-5), 6-1 in the final match completed.

Homestead won points at No. 2 singles with senior Thomas Weir and No. 3 singles with sophomore Daniel Gilbert. Both Homestead players won in straight sets. Park Tudor won both doubles points.

Homestead, which was making its first trip to the state tennis team quarterfinals since 2009, finished 20-2.
