In the north semistate game, Woodlan recovered a fumble with 2:54 left in the game, and Luke Crilly hit a 28-yard field goal with 1.5 seconds left to lift the Warriors 15-14 over top-ranked and previously undefeated Eastbrook. ... Southridge advanced to the state game by defeating No. 2 Indianapolis Scecina 24-7 in the south semistate.
Woodlan senior running back Jack Rhoades is ranked seventh in the state, according to MaxPreps with 2,089 rushing yards (160.7 yards per game) while senior quarterback Justin Durkes has passed for 2,430 yards (172.9 yards per game).
Southridge quarterback Jayce Harter has 2,737 total yards (195.5 yards per game) with 1,570 passing (112.1 ypg) and 1,167 rushing (83.3 ypg).
Warriors coach Sherwood Haydock has been to two previous state championship games with Harding (2003, 2006), winning one (2006). Haydock is No. 24 on the winningest active coaches list with a 188-147 overall record in 30 years. He is the 14th coach to lead two different schools to the state championship and, with a win, would be the seventh to win a state title at two different schools.
Woodlan averages 40.8 points per game and gives up 12.9 and ranks 16th in the state with a 27.9 average margin of victory.
Southridge isn't in the state's top 50 for average points scored (35.1), but ranks 36th with 14.2 points given up and No. 38 with average margin of victory (20.9).
