Homestead boys tip South Side in OT

Onye Ezeakudo hit a fast-break lay-up and hit the and-one with .7 seconds left to lift Homestead to a 70-69 win over South Side in overtime on Friday.

The Spartans' Luke Goode hit a 3-pointer with less than five seconds left to send the game into overtime.

Homestead (5-5, 3-0 SAC) led 28-25 at halftime and 51-45 after three. Mikale Stevenson gave the Archers (6-4, 1-2) a 59-57 lead with a steal and assist with about two minutes left.

Goode led Homestead with 18 points, Ezeakudo had 17, Sam Buck added 16 and Zac Bradtmiller 13.

Amari Hall led South Side with 22 points, Trejean Didier had 15 and Stevenson 13.

CARROLL 57, BISHOP DWENGER 50: At Bishop Dwenger, Nathan Fish scored 16 and Riley Perlich added 12 for the Chargers (5-2, 2-1 SAC), who outscored the Saints 20-7 in the second quarter.

Hayden Smithey led the Saints (5-4, 1-2) with 15 points and Matt Kochanski had 12.

CENTRAL NOBLE 43, GARRETT 41: At Central Noble, Zach Brazel had 12 and Trey Phillips and Ridley Zolman each added 10 for the Cougars (4-6, 2-3 NECC).

Micah Malcolm scored 14 points to lead the Railroaders (2-8, 1-3).

CHURUBUSCO 70, FREMONT 68, OT: At Fremont, Luke McClure scored 16, Brayton Bonar had 15, Gage Kelly 12 and Jackson Paul 10 for Churubusco (4-7, 2-2 NECC).

Tanner Behnfeldt scored 22 to lead Fremont (4-7, 1-4).

Girls

CARROLL 78, BISHOP DWENGER 67: At Bishop Dwenger, Kelli Damman scored 24 points, Laney Steckler added 17 and Isabelle Dollens 11 for the Chargers (12-5, 2-3 SAC).

Olivia Sterba led the Saints (8-6, 2-4) with 19, Ellen Ross added 15 and Molly Ream 12.

NORTHROP 64, SNIDER 51: At Snider, Breanna Douglas scored 17, Morgan Hughes had 13, Niomi Dube had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Alicia Tiney-Williams and Arielle Thatcher each scored 11 for the Bruins (13-2, 5-1 SAC).

Da'Leshia Davis and Hannah Barnes each scored 18 for the Panthers (8-9, 3-3).

FAIRFIELD 42, EASTSIDE 38, OT: At Fairfield, the Blazers (12-4, 6-2 NECC) trailed 11-2 after the first quarter but got back to within 20-17 at halftime. Maddisyn Heffley led Eastside with 11 points and Olivia Yoder had 10.

Erica Zook scored 13 for the Falcons (14-1, 7-0 NECC).

FREMONT 61, CHURUBUSCO 26: At Churubusco, Isabella Dangerfield and Samantha Kuhn each scored 14 and Erica Linker added 13 for Fremont (7-8, 2-5 NECC).

CENTRAL NOBLE 48, GARRETT 31: At Central Noble, Meleah Leatherman scored 17 to lead the Cougars (13-3, 6-1 NECC).

Kenzie Casselman scored 12 and Lexi Baver added 10 for the Railroaders (5-10, 2-5).
