Status uncertain for North Side's Brooks

JOURNAL GAZETTE

North Side boys basketball standout Keion Brooks Jr. did not travel with the team to Elkhart Central on Saturday, sparking reports the highly recruited junior's future with the Legends.

There is some media speculation the 6-foot-9 forward is looking to attend a prep school, but sources have indicated to The Journal Gazette there's still a chance he will stay at North Side.

Brooks is the No. 3 all-time scorer for North Side with 1,397 points and is averaging nearly 20 points per game this season. He scored 21 points in the Legends' 71-62 loss to Homestead on Friday.

Attempts to reach North Side coach Shabaz Khaliq and the Brooks family on Sunday were unsuccessful.
