Kreiger's coaching reign at Canterbury ends with loss


Scott Kreiger's coaching career at Canterbury came to a close Saturday with a 61-41 loss to No. 2 Westview in the semifinals of the North Judson Class 2A regional. 

Kreiger was 74-74 in six years leading the Cavaliers boys program, with three sectional titles. He also coached the school's successful girls program to four state championships. 

After two decades leading the girls and boys program at the school, Kreiger is headed to Florida to teach and be near his children.

Canterbury (11-14) was outscored 20-7 in the final quarter. 

"It was a one possession game late in the third quarter," Kreiger said. "They spread it out and executed. Our guys battled. Proud of our effort."

Will Shank led the Cavaliers with 12 points, while Cam Kreiger, Scott's son, added nine points. 

Class 3A

NEW CASTLE 49, ANGOLA 35: The Hornets fell to the top-ranked Trojans in the semifinals of the Marion Regional. 

Angola finishes the season 17-9, winning six of its last eight games.

Class A

SETON CATHOLIC 65, SOUTHERN WELLS 57: The Raiders lost in the semifinals of the Frankfort Regional. 

Southern Wells' six-game winning streak was snapped with the loss to finish the season 11-15.
