HUNTINGTON – The Blackhawk Christian boys basketball team couldn't get into an offensive rhythm as it fell 55-53 to Southwood in the Class A semistate at Huntington North on Saturday.
Following a free throw from Southwood's Carson Blair, the Braves got the ball with 8.2 seconds left and had opportunities around the net, but the game-tying attempt never fell and Blackhawk Christian's season came to an end at the buzzer.
Jalan Mull led the Braves with 23 points, Caleb Furst scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half and Kyle Zurbach had 11 rebounds.
Dallas Holmes scored 23 points and Peyton Trexler added 16 for the Knights, who will face Morristown in the 1A state championship game.
