Concordia boys win state indoor meet


Concordia's teams performed well in the small school division at the Hoosier State Relays indoor track state championships in Bloomington on Saturday.

Reece Gibson won the 3,200-meter run in 9:16.72 to lead the boys team to a team state title while, on the girls side, Adison Smith won the long jump at 17 feet, 3 inches to lead the Cadets to a third-place finish.

Also finishing in the top five for Concordia were Liam Fletcher second in the 60 (7.09), Luigi Rivas third in the 60 hurdles (8.45), 800 relay was second (1:33.25), the 1,600 relay was fourth (3:33.32), the distance medley was second (10:32.42) and Treyon Freeman was second in shot put (51-7).

The Concordia girls 1,600 relay (4:09.03) and the 3,200 relay (10:02.54) each finished third.

Norwell's Sydney Lambert finished fourth in the 3,200 (11:09.27), the 3,200 relay was fifth (10:21.42) and the DMR was fourth (13:07.34). South Adams' Addie Wanner finished second in the 60 hurdles (9.20) and third in high jump (5-4).

Bellmont boys 3,200 relay was fifth (8:27.93) and Ryne Norby was fifth in long jump (20-11.75). Churubusco's Sam Wood was fifth in pole vault (13-6), and South Adams' Lars In't Groen was fifth (49-11.5) in shot put.

In the large school competition, DeKalb's Tyler Schwartz finished second in the 3,200 (10:49.00), Warsaw's Mia Beckham was fourth (11:03.57), Homestead's 1,600 relay was fourth (4:02.82), and Warsaw's DMR was fifth (12:42.21).

Also, Warsaw's Kennedy Lauck was fifth (5-2) in high jump; Angola's Ali Cranston was fifth in pole vault (11-0), South Side's Alexis Grider was second in long jump (18-1.75) and East Noble's Lexie Moriarity was fourth (17-10). Carroll's Justin Becker was second in the 60 (6.87) and Wayne's Craig Young was third (6.91), Carroll's Connor Goetz was second in the 3,200 (9:19.97). Leo's 3,200 relay team was fifth (9:05.21), as was Carroll's DMR (10:34.75).
