Homestead beats Dwenger in softball on walk-off home run

JOURNAL GAZETTE

Savana Harless hit a walk-off home run to lift Homestead softball to a 3-2 win over Bishop Dwenger on Monday.

The Spartans scored two runs in the first inning and held the lead until the seventh when the Saints tied it in the top of the inning.

 

WAYNE TRACE (OH) 2, WOODLAN 1, 13 inn.: At Wayne Trace, the Warriors fell despite outhitting their opponents 10-4. Olivia Wilson pitched 12.2 innings, struck out eight and walked seven in the loss.

BELLMONT 5, COLUMBIA CITY 1: At Columbia City, Braves' Macy Montgomery gave up three hits and struck out nine and Tori Miller led the team with a home run and three RBI.

WHITKO 6, NORTHFIELD 3: At Northfield, the Wildcats used a 3-run seventh inning after Northfield tied it in the bottom of the sixth.

Baseball

CARROLL 10, COLUMBIA CITY 0: At Carroll, Nathan Fish went 3 for 4, with two doubles, a run scored and two RBI and Riley Perlich went 2 for 3 with two doubles and three RBI to lead the Chargers.

Carroll's Noah Lehn gave up six hits and one walk while striking out six in the six-inning game.

SOUTH ADAMS 5, MINSTER (OH) 4: At South Adams, the Starfires scored all of their runs in the fourth inning. Adam Besser and Grant Besser combined for 1-hit relief.

Isaiah Baumgartner went 2 for 3 with a run scored and Braden Baumer went 1 for 3 with two RBI and a run scored.

WAWASEE 9, NORTHRIDGE 5: At Northridge, the Warriors were boosted by eight runs in the fourth inning.

Wawasee's Carter Woody struck out 12 and gave up four earned runs on six hits and Jairus Boyer, Jacob Garcia and Levi Brown each hit home runs.

Golf

COLUMBIA CITY 162, HUNTINGTON NORTH 189: At Norwood, Eagles' Spencer McCammon earned medalist honors with a 2-over 37 on the front nine. Daniel Shively led the Vikings with a 44.

NORTHROP 184, WAYNE 246: At Colonial Oaks, Lucas Witzigreuter led the Bruins with a 3-over 39 on the back nine.

Nick Beer led the Generals with a 56.

Tennis

CARROLL 5, WARSAW 0: At Carroll, Sydney Jackson defeated Liza Lewis 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Lauren VanWyngarden and Mia Toscos won 6-1, 6-1 over Taylor Shoaf and Rachel Boyle at No. 1 doubles.

CANTERBURY 4, CULVER ACADEMY 1: Samantha Becker won 6-0, 6-2 over Rachel Dodson at No. 1 singles and Jiya Kashya and Carmen Gnagy won 6-1, 6-3 over Abby Ericson and Madeline Rahe at No. 1 doubles.

Culver got its lone point from Chao-Chin Hsu who defeated Meghana Nalamolu 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
