Homestead softball trounces DeKalb

Homestead softball (9-0) scored seven runs in the second inning and cruised to a 12-4 home victory Thursday over to DeKalb to remain undefeated.

Sophomore Katie Felger got the win for the Trojans and doubled twice, while her sister Abbie Felger tripled. DeKalb (2-6) scored all four runs in the third inning.

 

WOODLAN 10, BLUFFTON 0

The Warriors (8-4) scored eight runs in the fifth to win going away at Bluffton. Emma Baughman pitched all five innings, striking out 11 Tigers (2-7) to get the win. 

Baseball

SOUTH SIDE 11, WAYNE 4

South Side (7-4) overcame an early three-run deficit at home with five runs in the bottom of the first. Junior Leontae Warren tripled for Wayne (6-6), but took the loss. 

LEO 14, NEW HAVEN 6

Leo (9-2) scored at least three runs in four different innings to win easily at home against the Bulldogs (6-7). Junior Ryan Hackworth tripled twice for the Lions.

JAY COUNTY 2, ADAMS CENTRAL 1

Adams Central's Kevin Brown struck out 12 in seven innings but took the loss at home for the Jets (9-4). Wyatt Geesaman struck out 11 and got the win for Jay County (5-3). 

DEKALB 8, EAST NOBLE 4

Senior Alec Brunson homered and drove in two at home for the Barons (6-6), who scored four runs in the fifth and in the sixth to come from behind and win. East Noble (3-8) led 3-0 in the fifth inning.

Golf

CARROLL 163, COLUMBIA CITY 168

Ben Rudolph and Ben Jackson shot a pair of 39s to lead Carroll golf (2-2) past Columbia City (5-2) at Autumn Ridge Golf Club. Spencer McCammon had a 38 for the Eagles.

HOMESTEAD 154, LEO 184

The Spartans had five players score 40 or better at Chestnut Hills Golf Club, led by senior Braden Kattman with a 37. Tyler Anderson led the Lions with a 41.

ANGOLA 157, WEST NOBLE 197, HAMILTON 254

Noah Schoenherr shot a 37 at Trine's Zollner Golf Course to lead the Hornets to a win in the three-way meet. 

 

Tennis

NORWELL 5, BELLMONT 0

Breann Barger beat Bellmont's Carington Bultemeier 7-6(4), 6-1 in the top singles match and the Knights' girls tennis team remained undefeated at 8-0.
