No. 10 Leo tops No. 21 Carroll in tennis
In a battle of two of the state's top 25 tennis teams, No. 10 Leo defeated No. 21 Carroll 4-1 on Monday at Carroll.
The Chargers lost at No. 1 singles as Luke Stoffel lost to Isaac Steiner 6-2, 6-1. At No. 2, Leo's Eli Herran defeated Kyle Hoerr 6-1, 6-0. Sam McDaniel defeated Grant Newman 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
The Chargers' lone point came at No. 1 doubles, where Tyler Gibson and Ethan Koeneman defeated Carter Bonecutter and Tyler Parker 6-4, 0-6, 7-5. Leo's Garrison Miller and Will Crawford defeated Max Carmody and Jonathan Hess 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
ADAMS CENTRAL 3, CANTERBURY 2: At Canterbury, the Flying Jets' No. 1 singles player, Jaxson Rinkenberger, defeated Canterbury's Nishanth Reddy 6-2, 6-4. Lucas Harvey fell to Canterbury's Shaan Patel 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles spot. Canterbury's Dhillon Patel defeated Nathan Maldeny 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3. In No. 1 doubles, Adams Central's Cam Burkhart and Lucas Van De Weg defeated Quentin Williams and Zach Anderson 6-2, 6-4. In No. 2 doubles, Malakai Moore and Kane Clark defeated Canterbury's Joe Shaklik and Jai Kashyap 5-7, 6-2, 7-5.
WAYNE 1, HERITAGE 1: At Wayne, Zar Kyi Kan notched the lone goal for Heritage, while Naung Ket scored for Wayne.
NORTHROP 218, LUERS 181, BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 233: At Colonial Oaks, Luers' Madeleine Pape was the medalist with a 38. Luers' Lexy Turpchinoff and Northrop's Treva Datcher both shot a 45 to place second and third.
HOMESTEAD 152, DWENGER 213: At Chestnut Hills, Homestead's Madi Debagia had the lowest score on the afternoon, shooting a 35. Nicole Hagen shot the low score for Dwenger (42).
