Pape leads Bishop Luers to SAC golf title

Bishop Luers won the girls SAC Golf Tournament at McMillen Park on Saturday, finishing with a team score of 358 to beat second-place Bishop Dwenger by 11 strokes. 

The Knights' Madeleine Pape led with field with a round of 75, beating runners-up Molly Brehm of Wayne and Nicole Hagen of Bishop Dwenger by nine strokes. Caroline Rahrig and Lexy Turpenchinoff each recorded scores of 92 for Bishop Luers, and Caroline Gladding carded a 99. 

Concordia took third with a score of 375, Wayne was fourth at 410 and Northrop fifth at 426.

Kelly leads Angola to team title

Angola's Gabby Kelly carded a 79-stroke round to lead the Hornets to the Northeast Corner Conference team title at Zollner Golf Course. Maddie Herman (87) and Teryn Stanley (88) also recorded sub-90 rounds for Angola. 

West Noble's Hannah Godfrey finished second with a score of 85, but the Chargers took seventh as a team, and Herman tied for third.

Fremont took second in the team standings based on a tie-breaker with Lakeland. 

Warsaw third at NLC tourney

Warsaw took third place at the Northern Lakes Conference tournament with a score of 368, two stroke behind Northridge, but well behind winner NorthWood, which recorded a score of 339. 

Wawasee's Belle Brunner was fourth with a round of 86, and the Warriors took fifth as a team. Grayson Kilburn led the Tigers with a score of 91. 

Boys soccer

CARROLL1, HAMILTON SOUTHEASTERN 0 :Chris Gerken scored the lone goal for the 17th-ranked Chargers in the 68th minute as they beat Hamilton Southeastern at the Penn Invitational in Mishawaka. Brohde Eckert made four saves in goal as Carroll improved to 7-1-1.

Boys tennis

HOMESTEAD 3, NORTH CENTRAL 2

The third-ranked Spartans traveled to Indianapolis and beat No. 2 North Central. David Heiney beat Ian Brady 6-3, 7-6 at No. 1 singles and Daniel Gilbert beat Brian McAuley 6-4, 5-7, 10-3, although Andrew Meier fell to Mace Shoults after splitting the first two sets. Bryant Zitlaw and Tim Steiner lost at No. 1 doubles in a third-set tiebreaker, but Thaddeus Dressel and Landon Sather beat Josh Gerstein and Carter Bailey 6-2, 2-6, 10-8 at No. 2 doubles. 

Cross country

Homestead girls best Carroll at Bruin Invitational

Homestead's Julia Dvorak won the Bruin Invitational in 19 minutes, 4 seconds, beating second-place finisher and her teammate Izabella Henschen by more than a minute. Carroll's Brooke Hansen was third overall, but Lauren Richards, Angelina Sedlaczek and Skylar Kiess all finished in the top 10 as the Spartans won with a team score of 22. Carroll was second with 50 points. 

Snider won the boys race with 37 points, with Panthers runner Jesse Hamlin winning in 16:07. The top five Snider runners were all among the first 11 across the finish line. Draven Thompson and Weston Miser of Carroll took second and third place, and the Chargers took second as a team in the boys race.
