South Adams-Adams Central pairing highlights baseball sectional draw

South Adams and Adams Central, two of the top-ranked baseball teams in Class 2A, will face off in the first round of the sectional tournament, both teams learned as the IHSAA sectional pairings were released Friday.
The Starfires, 11-3 and ranked fourth in 2A, will open the South Adams sectional against the school's traditional rival in the Flying Jets, who are ranked ninth in the latest Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association poll and 7-3. The teams are scheduled to play this Thursday.
Homestead (14-3), tied for ninth in the Class 4A rankings, will play North Side in the first round of the Class 4A Huntington North sectional. Carroll (14-5) will face Snider (5-7) in the first round of the Class 4A DeKalb sectional, and the winner will go on to face Northrop (8-6). DeKalb (12-4) will play East Noble (2-10).
In the Class 3A New Haven sectional, Bishop Dwenger (9-4) will open postseason play against Columbia City (3-8). The winner will play Leo (13-1) which, like Bishop Dwenger, received votes in the Class 3A poll. New Haven (8-7) will play Bishop Luers (8-3).
In the Class 3A Wawasee sectional, Angola (6-7) will play Lakeland (9-3), and West Noble (5-6) will play NorthWood (11-5).
In the Class 1A Fremont sectional, the Eagles (7-8) will play Blackhawk Christian (3-6) in the first round.
