Bishop Dwenger, South Adams ranked third in football preseason polls

Last season's Class 4A champion Bishop Dwenger, which will be competing in Class 5A this postseason, is ranked third in its new classification, according to the Indiana Football Coaches Association preseason poll. 

The Saints got one first-place vote. 

South Adams, which returns numerous starters from a 7-3 season, is ranked third in Class 1A, garnering two first-place votes. Their ACAC rival, Adams Central, is ranked fourth in 1A after reaching the semi-state round last season, and Churubusco is ranked sixth in the same classification. 

Bishop Luers is ranked fourth in Class 2A after reaching semi-state at Class 3A last season. 

Angola, which fell to Bishop Dwenger in the regional championship last season, starts the year ranked fifth in Class 4A. Concordia is ranked ninth in Class 3A. 

Snider (6A), East Noble (4A), Wayne (4A) and Woodlan (2A) were also among the local teams receiving votes.
