Eastside edges Canterbury in 3 OTs


Eastside outlasted Canterbury 58-56 in three overtimes in the semifinals of the Woodlan Class 2A boys basketball sectional Friday.

The Blazers got 15 points from Cade Willard and 12 points from Jacob Thompson.

Cam Kreiger led the Cavaliers with 15 points, while Michael Brothers had 14 points and Noah Wolfe 12. 


Class 4A

HOMESTEAD 60, WAYNE 54: The Spartans beat the host Generals for the third time this season to advance to the finals of the Wayne Sectional.

Homestead (21-3) also beat Wayne (11-12) 57-54 in the SAC tournament and 69-45 in a regular-season matchup. 

Jack Ferguson led the Spartans with 29 points, and Sam Buck added 11.

Craig Young had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Generals.

MUNCIE CENTRAL 44, HUNTINGTON NORTH 36: The Bearcats surprised their former North Central Conference rivals in the semifinals of the Wayne Sectional.

Huntington North (17-8) got 16 points from Hunter Hollowell. Muncie Central improved to 10-14 by winning the second half, 29-16. 

WARSAW 71, ELKHART CENTRAL 36: Kyle Mangas hit 13 of 15 from the free-throw line and finished with 26 points as the Tigers rolled past the Blue Blazers in the semifinals at the Elkhart Central Sectional.

Warsaw (16-9) also got 17 points from Jeremy David and 10 from Braxton Minix. 

Class 3A

BISHOP LUERS 71, MISSISSINEWA 50: Ray Walker Jr. led a balanced effort with 15 points as the Knights won a semifinal matchup against the Indians at Bellmont. 

Anton Berry had 14 points for Luers (16-7) and J.J. Foster Jr. added 13 points.

COLUMBIA CITY 59, NORWELL 50: The Eagles won the rubber match against Northeast Eight rival Knights in the semifinals at Bellmont

The teams had split regular-season matchups. 

Parker Hazen led Columbia City (13-13) with 25 points, while Cody Shively had 20 points for Norwell (14-11). 

WEST NOBLE 47, WAWASEE 38: Larry Nickolson's 20 points helped the Chargers past the host Warriors in the Wawasee Sectional semifinals.

West Noble (9-14) also got 10 points from Nick Knepper.

Jairus Boyer led Wawasee (6-18) with 15 points. Trevon Coleman added 10.

Class A

BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 87, LAKELAND CHRISTIAN 51: The Braves put four players in double figures to rout the Cougars in the semifinals at the Bethany Christian Sectional.

No. 7 Blackhawk Christian (17-9) was led by Jalan Mull's 22 points and Keillan Debusk's 18 points.
