Special events

• Bethany Lutheran Church, 2435 Engle Road, will have a game night beginning at 7 p.m. today. The event will continue the second Saturday of every month.

• St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 414 W. Madison St., Decatur, will have a fall fest from 5 to 10 p.m. today and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

• Covenant United Methodist Church, 10001 Coldwater Road, will have its Fall Kick-off from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. The event will have food, a bounce house, games and an outdoor fire pit. Bring your own chairs.

• Trier Ridge Community Church, 7501 Hessen Cassel Road, will have a free community lunch from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday. The free lunch will continue every Wednesday.

• Bethel United Methodist Church will have a fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at 8405 Lima Road. Dine in or carry out available. Cost is $9 adults, $5 children ages 6 to 12 and free for children ages 5 and younger.


• Concordia Theological Seminary, 6600 N. Clinton St., will offer “Access to Heaven on Earth in the Divine Service: The Theology of Worship in Hebrews” Monday through Wednesday. For more information, to to or call 452-2103.

• The University of Saint Francis will have a free lecture, “Fake News and the Fathers of Suspicion: Learning from Freud, Marx and Evagrius,” by associate professor Adam DeVille at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Brookside Ballroom, 2701 Spring St.

• Brookside Church, 6102 Evard Road, will offer Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
