Giving back

• NIPSCO is awarding $125,000 to veteran organizations, including the following local groups: Operation Finally Home in Warsaw; Turnstone for its Healthy Minds Healthy Bodies for Disabled Veterans in Fort Wayne; and VA Northern Indiana Health Care System for its veteran support programs.

• Beaman Home, which provides services to victims of domestic violence in Kosciusko, Fulton and Marshall counties, purchased a refrigerator with donations from the First United Methodist Church in Warsaw.

• Homebound Meals received a $25,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation's State Giving Program to assist with the deliver of hot, nutritious meals.

• Allen County Education Partnership received a $35,000 grant from the Lincoln Foundation for its Project Reads.

Memorial set

Allen County Right to Life will host the annual Memorial for the Unborn at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Ave. The memorial remembers babies lost to abortion in Allen County in 2016.

Volunteers needed

Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department is seeking volunteers to help cleanup the riverfront from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays beginning Oct. 7. Volunteers will meet at Bloomingdale Park at Sherman Boulevard and Burgess Street. All tools and work gloves will be provided. To volunteer, call 427-6026. Other cleanup dates are Oct. 14, 21 and 28; Nov. 4, 11 and 28; Jan. 13, 20 and 27; and Feb. 4, 10, 17 and 24.
