Special events

• Concordia Theological Seminary, 6600 N. Clinton St., will have an Advent Candlelight Evening Prayer at 4 p.m. today. Music of the Advent season presented by the choirs of Concordia.

• Christ's United Methodist Church, 148 W. Third St., Roanoke, will have a cookie walk from 9 a.m. to noon today. In addition, the church will have a Children's Christmas Program at 8 a.m. Sunday.

• Epiphany Lutheran Church, 6606 Maplecrest Road, will have a cookie walk, craft and vendor fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 16. Take out lunches will be available at 11 a.m.

• Christ's United Methodist Church will have a parsonage open house from 2 to 6 p.m. today at 194 W. Second St., Roanoke. Visitors can meet the pastor and his family.

Special music

• Concordia Theological Seminary, 6600 N. Clinton St., will have “Christmas with the Kantorei” at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Kramer Chapel.

• Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church, 10145 Maysville Road, will have a jazz Advent Vespers service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Lecture

University of Saint Francis will present the lecture, “Incarnate Wisdom Scripture,” by Sister Felicity Dorsett, assistant professor of theology, at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Brookside Ballroom, 2701 Spring St.
