Special events

• Greater Progressive Baptist Church, 2215 John St., will celebrate its 65th anniversary with week-long events. There will be a church service at 7 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Robert Bell, pastor of True Love Baptist Church, speaking; 7 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Luther Whitfield, pastor of New Covenant Worship Center; 7 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Bryson Sharp, pastor of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church; 7 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Lamont Monford, pastor of Philippians Baptist Church, Lima, Ohio; and 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Sept. 16 with Dr. Lonnie E. Anderson Jr., pastor of Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, Kokomo. On Sept. 15, there will be a church gala at Memorial Coliseum, 4000 Parnell Ave., featuring the Rev. Ternae T. Jordan, pastor of Mount Canaan Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and city councilman Glynn Hines, D-6th. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and cost is $55 per person.

• River of Life Worship Center, 14226 U.S. 20, Montpelier, Ohio, will host Christian singer Carman at 6 p.m. Sept. 16. The concert is free and doors open at 5 p.m. VIP tickets are available for $100 which includes a CD and meet and greet after the concert. • St. Rose Parish, 421 Monroe St., Monroeville will have a fall rummage sale from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.

Fall programs

Seminary United Methodist Church, 285 N. Seminary St., Roanoke will have new fall programming for the community. New office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday worship is at 10 a.m. For more information about additional programming, go to
