Permits give glimpse at new P.F. Chang's

Do you want to know the cost to bring P.F. Chang's to Fort Wayne?

It could be more than $1.2 million, according to permits filed with the city.

Planning and building permits have been filed with the Allen County Building Department, giving a sneak peek into where the hotly anticipated restaurant will be.

Moving into Glenbrook Square, near Barnes & Noble, P.F. Chang's could occupy more than 6,700 square feet of space.

Work includes updating the former Abercrombie & Fitch space, as well as building out on the existing structure.

The restaurant will be about the average size for a P.F. Chang's. According to a restaurant industry website, P.F. Chang's restaurants typically range from 6,000 to 7,500 square feet with an average of about 6,900 square feet.

The permit includes an estimated completion date in September.

The closest P.F. Chang's is in Maumee, Ohio, just southwest of Toledo, and there are two locations in the Indianapolis area.

Attempts to contact P.F. Chang's corporate office and Glenbrook Square management were unsuccessful.

Olive Garden upgrade

A building permit has been filed with the Allen County Building Department to update the Olive Garden on Coliseum Boulevard near Glenbrook Square.

According to the permit, the restaurant will see interior and exterior improvements, which includes remodeling the dining room, lobby and bar areas.

Last year, Darden Restaurants, which owns and operates Olive Garden and other restaurants, announced it was going to remodel about 100 locations.

Food truck finalist

A local food truck is getting some attention for its good looks.

IGrandma's is among 10 finalists for's 2018 graphic design contest.

It is the first year for the contest, which came in response to user demand.

More than 800 submissions were received from around the globe, and the website whittled those down to the finalists.

“Grandpa worked hard at putting together a splendid, eye-catching design and would love to win this one,” the iGrandma's operators said on Instagram.

The truck features a nostalgic picture of Grandma and Grandpa sitting on the porch with the sun setting on the farm.

The truck, which is based out of DeKalb County, serves comfort food such as, well, Grandma would make. Dishes include roasted pork, chicken and noodles and Salisbury steaks.

Fans can vote daily until May 25 at

Titans fundraiser

The Ivy Tech Titans baseball team is heating things up with a fundraiser.

Titans Home Runs & Hot Wings, which will be from 6 to 9 p.m. June 14, will combine some of the best wings from around the city with beer and a tater tot bar.

First Base tickets are $35 and come with two wings from each competitor, two drink tickets and the all-you-can-eat tater tot bar.

Home Run tickets are $55 and include the wings and tot bar, plus a VIP beer pass.

The best wings will be announced at 8 p.m. during the event, which will take place at Ivy Tech Community College's Fort Wayne Campus in the Steel Dynamics Inc. Keith E. Busse Technology Center, 3701 Dean Drive.

All money raised will go to the Ivy Tech Titans baseball team, which just finished its inaugural season with a 25-17 record.

Cookie Cottage will be moving from its location on Noble Drive near JoAnn Plaza to West Washington Center Road this fall.

• The Downtown Improvement District and area food truck operators are preparing for the return of the weekly Lunch on the Square series, which includes live music.

The event will again return to Freimann Square beginning June 7 and is scheduled to take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Thursday in June, July and August.
