Vicki Lawrence, best known for her role as comedienne Carol Burnett’s sidekick and the star of "Mama’s Family," will be onstage as the keynote speaker at next year’s Tapestry: A Day for You.
The 15th annual daylong event, which will be April 29 at Memorial Coliseum, raises scholarship money for students through the Tapestry Parkview Endowment and Scholarship Fund.
Last year’s keynote speaker was Jane Pauley, the Hoosier native and former "Today" show anchor.
Besides her work on "The Carol Burnett Show" and the subsequent series, "Mama’s Family," Lawrence is a recording artist, actress and author of "Vicki!: The True Life Adventures of Miss Fireball."
Winning her local fire department’s Miss Fireball Contest led Lawrence to "The Carol Burnett Show." Lawrence’s last area appearance was in April 2013 when she sold out a performance of "Mama" at Niswonger Performing Art Center of Northwest Ohio in Van Wert.
Lawrence is also an avid women’s rights activist and is well known for her sense of humor.
"Life is too serious to be taken seriously!" is one of her quotes. Lawrence works with the Humane Society and has been involved with the American Heart Association and their Go Red for Women campaign.
Tickets are $75 for open seating and $800 for a reserved table of 10.
Registration for Tapestry: A Day for You opens Feb. 26. Sponsorships for breakout sessions and booths are still available.
