The Journal Gazette

  • Photos by Cathie Rowand | The Journal Gazette Volunteer Bernadette Pikel looks for monarch caterpillars at Metea County Park on Tuesday. Monarchs are being gathered, raised, tagged and then released after they emerge from their chrysalis. The butterflies will head to Mexico to hibernate for the winter before returning in spring to begin a trip farther north.
