Monarchs are being gathered, raised in a safe environment and then tagged and released after they emerge form their chrysalis. This year's generation of monarchs is headed to Mexico where they will hibernate during the winter before returning next spring to start the whole generational trip up north. Monarch Festival 2017 is this Sunday, September 10th, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Eagle Marsh preserve, 6801 Engle Road.

  • Cathie Rowand | The Journal Gazette The Fort Wayne Fire Department and Indiana Michigan Power conducted training in an underground enclosed space Thursday behind the Auer Center for Arts and Culture. The goal of the training was to exchange information about protocols and practices as well as become familiar with equipment and the layout of the underground vaults and manholes.

  • Cathie Rowand | The Journal Gazette Cement is being poured Wednesday as work is being done to open Main St. by the end of this week. Main Street is closed to through traffic from Clinton Street to Harrison Streets, and on Calhoun Street between Berry Street to Superior Streets as AEP continues its project to replace on through September 8th. The closure is a continuation of AEP's Network Upgrade project in downtown Fort Wayne replacing underground power lines.
