Local neighborhood leaders, accompanied by several Fort Wayne city staff members from the Community Development Division, left Thursday for the annual Regional Neighborhood Network in Evansville, where they will be joined by other neighborhood representatives from five Midwest states.
The conference brings together government, corporate, faith-based, foundation, nonprofit and grass-roots leaders to find ways to improve quality of life. This year's theme is “Neighborhoods: Where Life Happens.” This year marks the conference's 31st anniversary.
“Neighborhoods are the backbone of Fort Wayne and I continue to be encouraged by the dedication of our neighborhood leaders as they work together to enhance each neighborhood in our city,” Mayor Tom Henry said in a statement Thursday. “We appreciate their commitment and desire to make a meaningful difference in our community.”
There are more than 400 neighborhood associations in Fort Wayne.
