Shepard, Zoeller to speak at IPFW

Randall Shepard, former chief justice of the Indiana Supreme Court, and Greg Zoeller, former state attorney general, will discuss the 2017 Indiana Civic Health Index on Friday at IPFW.

The public is welcome to the event, which will be at 9 a.m. in Liberal Arts Building Room 210.

The Indiana Civic Health Index, which is in its third year, is provided by the Indiana Bar Foundation, the Indiana Supreme Court, the National Conference on Citizenship, the Indiana University Center on Representative Government, Indiana University Northwest, IUPUI and the Indiana University Center for Civic Literacy.

Veterans parade set for Saturday

The annual Veterans Day Parade on Parnell Avenue, sponsored by the Allen County Council of Veterans Organizations, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, with a ceremony immediately following at Memorial Coliseum.

The parade lineup will start at 10 a.m. at State Boulevard and Parnell Avenue. The parade will start at 11 a.m. and travel north on Parnell Avenue to Memorial Coliseum.

Those attending the ceremony will be directed to the Parnell Avenue employee parking lot at the west side of the Coliseum.

The ceremony will be held immediately after the parade in Memorial Hall. Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry and Michael Hershman, director at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, are scheduled to speak.


Paulding wind project advances

Starwood Energy Group Global LLC of Greenwich, Connecticut, said Monday it has completed agreements to finance and construct the 100 Megawatt Northwest Ohio Wind Project in Paulding County, Ohio.

The project is contracted to sell all its output to General Motors pursuant to a long-term purchase agreement, Starwood said in a statement. Construction is to be completed in fall 2018, the statement said.

Starwood said it acquired the rights to the project in October 2014 from developer Trishe Resources Inc.
