Fort Wayne parks officials on Thursday adopted a master plan for the city's parks system that outlines goals for the next five years.
The planning document adopted by the Board of Park Commissioners includes goals to improve existing parks, continue with investment and development on the riverfront and to increase the park system's role in economic development.
A version of the plan was first shown to commissioners in December. Board members voted to adopt it in a meeting Thursday.
"This plan is designed to preserve and manage the environment, with an eye toward growth and to improve and enrich the quality of life enjoyed by area residents," the 79-page document says.
