2nd SEED Challenge winners announced

Ambassador Enterprises announced the winners of the second-annual SEED Challenge, which awarded funding to organizations collaborating to solve systemic problems in northeast Indiana.

The Strategic Empowerment and Enterprise Development Challenge gives organizations the opportunity to transform communities through collaboration and innovation.

The SEED Challenge is open to any nonprofit organization that works with another nonprofit, for-profit or government organization.

Two of this year's winners received $80,000 prizes, and one received a prize of $30,000. The money will go to implementing their projects as presented Thursday to a panel at the SEED Challenge finale.

The top collaborative projects: Genesis Health Bar (GiGi's Playhouse Fort Wayne and King Arthur's Trolley); Let Me Tell You a Story ... (NeighborLink Fort Wayne and Punch Films); Next Generation Skills (Lasting Change Inc., The Crossing and Streamline Designs LLC); Parkview Greenhouse and Learning Kitchen (Parkview Hospital Foundation and Early Childhood Alliance); and Startup Generator Fort Wayne (Start Fort Wayne and INVANTI).

One of the $80,000 prizes was presented to Let Me Tell You a Story.

The project involves collaborators using modern storytelling and technology to connect neighbors, promote neighborhood development and create qualified digital media apprentices.

Next Generation Skills was also a recipient of an $80,000 prize. The project will help disadvantaged youth meet increasing demands through the creation of a drone-repair business.

The $30,000 prize was awarded to Genesis Health Bar, which will provide culinary job training and employment for people individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in nonsheltered environments.
